Managing Performance
Module Name: Performance Management
Module Duration: 2-3 Days
To enable the manager to be more effective in his future role, this module is based on practical experience, rather than talking theory. In this programme you will identify how you can enhance your own leadership style using active communication, motivational and coaching techniques. Therefore, at every opportunity you will be given a chance to apply your learning to the work environment through practical exercises, discussion, debrief and feedback, and finally action plans.

To introduce you to the tools required as a leader to manage the performance of your team, so that you, your team and your organisation can achieve the goals you establish.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this module you will be able to:
- Identify and adapt an appropriate style of leadership in any given situation, so that maximum performance is encouraged from the individual and the team.
- Motivate both individuals and the team, so that an environment is generated in which employees can be successfully led towards achieving group or individual goals.
- Identify the best approach to coaching employees, so that both manager and employee can enhance performance through development when completing a goal.
- Manage and implement change, so that both managers and employees are committed to developing an environment of continuous improvement.
- Described the key theories of motivation
- Discussed the skills in giving and receiving performance feedback
- Analysed a three part model for managing under-performance
- Applied the course concepts in practical situations
- Discussed a range of strategies for helping others to perform more effectively
Content
The module will cover the following:
- Identify the different styles of leadership: This will allow you to select the most suitable style of leadership to use in any given situation, and how that style influences behaviour of the team and individuals within it.
- Understanding motivation in helping others perform better: This will allow you to use the best approach of motivating individuals so that their performance, and that of the team’s, is maintained and enhanced.
- Maintain performance through coaching: Once a team and the individuals understand what they have to do and why, often difficulties are experienced in maintaining levels of performance and relationships. This area will help you develop the performance of individuals and maintain your relationships with them.
- Managing the challenge of change within the organisation: Organizations are undergoing change virtually in every aspect of business. Change is inescapable and therefore with its speed of success there are often ‘casualties’, who find it difficult to keep up, but still have something to offer. This will help you to assist others in managing the challenges that change brings.
